Benefits of Lawn Irrigation

You ve probably seen a neglected lawn after an extended period of dry weather. It looks brown, brittle and very unhealthy. Lack of water and proper care can make any lawn look terrible. That s why it is important to regularly water your lawn with a lawn irrigation system.

Water is an essential part of keeping a lawn healthy and green. It assists in the process of photosynthesis, which allows the plants to turn absorb sunlight and turn it into nutrients. It also breaks down surrounding minerals and nutrients to help the plants absorb them. Having a plentiful supply of water in your lawn can also reduce the growth of harmful weeds.

There is a problem that many people face when trying to water their lawns regularly. They either forget to water the lawn or they overwater it. Overwatering a lawn can be just as harmful as not watering it enough and many people don t know how much water a lawn needs in order to remain healthy. That is why there are lawn irrigation systems available.

Lawn irrigation systems are a series of sprinklers and other water distribution devices connected through a hose to properly water your lawn automatically. They can be set to turn on and turn off whenever the user wants to schedule a watering.

When the system is turned on, the sprinklers in the system will pop up out of the ground and start watering the surrounding grass. When the system is turned off, they retract back into the ground. This allows you to have a watering system for your lawn without covering your lawn with sprinkler heads. Sprinklers can be useful and they can even be fun in the summer, but they can be tripping hazards and they are eyesores on an otherwise beautiful lawn. It s safer and more visually appealing to have them retract back into the ground.

Lawn irrigation systems also help conserve water. When people water a lawn with a hose, they usually waste quite a bit of water by spraying areas that don t need water or overwatering the grass. It s not difficult to overwater grass with a traditional hose. Hoses generally shoot out quite a bit of water over short periods of time. Not only does this result in overwatering, but you can also tear up your lawn with the water pressure. Lawn irrigation systems properly disperse most of the water being fed to it by the hose and are set to only give as much water as the lawn needs.

Lawn irrigation systems also sometimes allow fertilizer to be injected into the water during the watering process. This means that your lawn can get properly watered and fertilized at the same time. Fertilizer gives your lawn plenty of nutrients and minerals to keep it healthy and strong, but many people forget to fertilize their lawn at all and most forget to do it on a regular basis.

Installing a lawn irrigation system can keep your lawn green and healthy from spring until winter. If you have trouble remembering when to water your lawn or have problems with overwatering, look for a lawn irrigation system that is right for your lawn.
