Chevrolet, an automobile brand of General Motors (GM), has a racing pedigree. The Chevy cars of today traces their roots from Louis Chevrolet, a race-car driver during the early 1900s who was hired by GM founder William Durant to race cars for Buick Motor Company prior to the foundation of GM. Chevrolet, famous for its bowtie logo, has some indelible imprints in the American auto industry, having introduced the first fuel-injected engine in 1957. During the early 1960s, Chevy accounted for one out every 10 cars sold in the US.

Chevrolet, also known as Chevy, is often a divison on the Basic Motors auto corporation, acquired by the former in 1917. It was founded by Louis Chevrolet along with the General Motors founder and former Buick head, William Durant in 1911.
